How to Talk to People About Things
A course in communication and negotiation skills
This is a class that I used to teach regularly, but haven’t offered in a while. I may or may not offer it again. Hundreds of people, mostly in Toronto, took this course and developed skills to get better outcomes in their most important conversations, both at work and in their personal lives.

Quotes from class participants
“Highly recommend this course. More than anything else I've read or any other class I took at MBA school, the frameworks and processes I learned from Misha are what I continually refer back to in professional and personal situations. I've encouraged many friends to take the class now and every single one of them has been happy they've done it too!'“

“Definitely do it, it will change your life. Difficult conversations aren’t so intimidating anymore and my perception of how I can influence better outcomes has been expanded.“
— Victoria M
“This is one of the best courses I've taken in recent history. Misha's teaching style is tremendously empathetic and strategic. There's a very balanced approach to collaboration and individual self reflection while providing excellent tools and resources for negotiation. I also found that the individuals I met in this class were great and a very helpful group to stay in touch with.“
— Britt W
“It was better than therapy for me. It forced me to take a hard look at what negative things I contribute to the current conversations I have been having, but more importantly, how I can improve those things and turn toward getting better outcomes.“
— Brandee L
“If you're negotiating with yourself to take this class, ask yourself if your BATNA is really better than not taking it. If you don't know what that means you should really take the class. If you do know what it means then you don't need me to tell you it's a good idea to sign up.“
— Bradley B
“This class altered my entire perception of the universe. It also taught me some very useful, practical skills, and it was fun. Go!“
— Andrea R
“How to Talk to People About Things" has been the best decision I made this year. The things I learned measurably improved many facets of my life and have paved a foundation on which I can continue to build… Misha [is] tremendously skilled at curating and leading group conversations in a way that draws out value, creating space for everyone to meaningfully participate, and attracting folks that - for lack of better words - are neater than your average bunch. The people I met in his class and the lessons I learned watching him do his thing, while harder to quantify, were a lovely bonus to what was already an excellent experience.'“
— Diana R
“This course transformed my personal relationships! I initially took this course to help me negotiate freelance wages. In fact, it transformed all of my family and personal relationships. It was a real game-changer - and fun, too! Highly recommended for anyone.“
— Marsha S
“I've said it before but I'll say it again: Misha's teaching has the perfect combination of playfulness and solid content to make challenging negotiation concepts accessible. Planning for difficult negotiations and interpersonal conversations has changed my life. It is my hope that this approach to negotiation will spread throughout political circles and bring about the kind of heart-guided change that we so urgently need. And as a mother of two, his lessons continue to filter through my life in both daily and momentous occasions. Patience and listening can be taught, deepened and improved strategically! 5 stars'“
— Jaya K
“Everyone should have to take this course before being allowed to be an adult. It is life changing. I'm not just saying that, I truly mean it. The most difficult conversations - personal, professional, even the ones about money (!!!) - are now navigable because of what I learned in HTTTPAT. Seriously. You are a mess and you don't even know it. Take this course. 5 stars”
— Ivy K
“I describe the class to friends and colleagues as THE most practical, universal and meaningful class I’ve taken as an adult lately. There’s a toolkit here for being the best version of myself and building relationships founded on compassion and honesty.“
— Vicki L
“An incredibly worthwhile, informative, and illuminating class and Misha is a clear, engaging and energetic instructor. The exercises were tons of fun and I loved hearing from other students. I'll use what I've learned from this class in personal and professional contexts.”
— Amanda B
“I took this course last year with my partner and before this course I would say that I generally avoided confrontation and negotiation. This course was altering. I would recommend "How to Talk to People about Things" as I would recommend learning how to ride a bike or how to swim. It’s crucial. A set of skills personally, professionally, and civically useful. Misha's teaching style and methods find a perfect meeting of the practical, theoretical and a kind of everyday theatrically. The world would be a better place if everyone took this course.“
— Jason L
“It’s a transformational course. and not just provides you negotiating skills but will make you a better person in many ways“
— Shahil T
